May 21, 2018

No reading logs were sent home last week. Thank you for reading with your child throughout the year. My wish is that you will continue to read together!

We will go on our field trip Tuesday, the 22nd. Please remember the booster seat, sack lunch with drink, and an extra water for later (throw away lunch and liquid containers are best).

 

Reading

Good readers make inferences while reading. They use prior knowledge and information in a text to help gather clues to create meaning. We will continue to practice this as a class.

Math

We will practice counting and reading number words.

May 22nd – Field Trip to Warsaw Leave @ 8:15

May 26th – Awards in Chapel @ 9:00. Parents are invited! Children will be dismissed after it is over.

It is usually around 10:30 or so.

I have enjoyed having your child in kindergarten. Please continue to read and write over the summer. Maybe keep a daily summer journal. Stay safe!

Attached, you will find a permission slip for the field trip to Warsaw, Missouri. Please jot a note at the bottom of it, if you are able to drive. ;) These need to be returned Friday, May 18th. Thank you!

 

Reading

Good readers think about what happens at the beginning, middle, and end of a story. This week, we will write to practice retelling a story by sequencing it.

Math

We will tell time by the hour using an analog and digital clock.

Our class, as a group, will be participating in the Spring Talent Show, on May 4th at 6:oo p.m. We will meet in the classroom at 5:50. Your child may dress in casual clothes. See you then!

 

Reading

Good readers decide what the author's purpose is from books they read. We will continue to determine what is important from the text or what the author wants us to learn.

Math

We will solve a problem by drawing a picture, use indirect comparison to compare height or length of an object then measure length using inches, and separate 2 equal parts.
