GRADES 3 & 4

November 13, 2017

Dear Parents and Students,

This year our theme for the school is “It's STILL All About Jesus”, based on Hebrews 13:8:

Thank you all for signing up for parent-teacher conferences this coming Monday and Tuesday. I look forward to visiting with you about your child's progress. As a team, we can work together to ensure that your child is reaching their potential. Be thinking about your child's strengths and areas of needs that you would like to discuss with me. Thank you.

This week off for the students would be a great time for them to finish reading their non-fiction fiction book . That book report is due on December 15.

Remember that we do have school on November 20-21. The rest of that week is Thanksgiving Break.

There will be no spelling test that week. But we are having two other tests. THERE WILL BE AN ENGLISH TEST AND A SCIENCE TEST ON TUESDAY, November 21. PLEASE LOOK OVER THE REVIEW SHEETS THAT WILL COME HOME ON MONDAY NIGHT WITH YOUR CHILD. This is especially important because of the long break prior to this. We will be having a review in both subjects at school, also.

Students will begin a study of the regions of the United States on November 20. We will start with the Northeast Region. As we learn the states in each region, we will also try to learn the capitals of each state. There will be quizzes as we go along for each region. So if you want to get a jump start on learning states and capitals, there is another thing your child can do this week off to keep the brain working! Also, if you ask your child to name the presidents in order, they will likely be able to sing a song (or most of a song) to let you know that they know this!

Be watching for information on SCRIP CARDS that will be sent home soon. This is a program designed to give money back to our school while you make your regular purchases. You just need to buy a gift card to whatever business you wish. Every time you use the gift card, our school gets a portion of that back. You can go online to scrip.com to see more details. There are MANY retail stores to choose from. On Papa John's night, if you buy a Papa John's SCRIP CARD, then use it to buy pizza on our school night, it helps our school both times. Ms. Janice has many cards available to purchase in the office. She can also place orders for other cards you would like to have.

Our Christmas Program this year is entitled “Memories at the Manger”. We are doing just ONE program for the whole school, PreK-8. It will be on Tuesday, December 19 at 6:00 p.m. Some students will be in costume, but all the third and fourth graders will just need to wear dress clothes, such as you would wear to church on Sunday. Invite your grandparents, aunts, and uncles. They won't want to miss the memories.
