It’s STILL all about Jesus

Bible lessons for this week: Nicodemus Visits Jesus (John 3:1-21), Jesus Preaches at Nazareth (Luke 4:16-30)

Memory Work:

First Grade Spelling Words—Unit 17: ship, chin, much, chop, wish, shop, how, now

Challenge words: our, shoe

Second Grade Spelling Words--Unit 17: meet, meat, week, weak, road, rode, tail, tale, be, bee, too, two, to  Challenge words: threw, through

The second grade spelling words are homophones. Be sure to know the meaning of each homophone. It is important that the students listen to the sentence when they take the spelling test, so they write the correct homophone.

 

We will have a science test over Chapter 8, Sound, on Friday. The students will bring home a review sheet on Thursday.

Happy Birthday to Yarasdi! She will celebrate her birthday on Thursday, January 18. God’s blessings, Yarasdi!

Chapel offerings for January and February will be given to Open Door. This local ministry helps meet the basic needs of the citizens of Pettis County.

January 22-25 we will take a virtual online mission trip to Cambodia. We will learn about the people of Cambodia and the mission work that is being done in Cambodia. Students will bring home a bank which they may return with an offering for this Gospel outreach. Please pray for this ministry.

Second graders may bring an item for Share Time on Friday.

Please attend the PTL meeting on Thursday, January 18 at 6:00 pm. Your ideas and support are needed.

Scrip Cards are available from Ms. Janice in the church/school office. A percentage of each card sold is given to St. Paul’s Lutheran School. The cards are gift cards, so you can spend them just like cash. You don’t have to spend any extra money, and you will support St. Paul’s Lutheran School. It’s a win-win!

Memory Work:

First Grade Spelling Words—Unit 16: will, egg, grass, tell, miss, well, look

Challenge words: guess, little, very

Second Grade Spelling Words--Unit 16: night, kind, child, light, find, right, high, wild, July, eye, buy, by, every. Challenge words: behind, lightning

Our new Science chapter is about Sound. The students will each make a "musical instrument."  Each student has chosen whether to make an instrument that they can blow, hit, rub, pluck, or shake. This is a project that they will complete at home. Please do not spend money on materials. Your child can easily make a musical instrument with items around your home. The musical instrument will be due on Thursday, January 11. You can find some great ideas on Pinterest or books from the library. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Book orders are being sent home today. If you wish to place an order, please return the completed order form and payment by Friday, January 12. If you pay with a check, please make it payable to Scholastic. Only one check is necessary, even if you order from more than one form. You may want to use the online option. Go to scholastic.com/book clubs. Our class activation code is GQJHT. There are some books and promotions that are only available through online orders.
