The students all did a terrific job on their animal reports and presentations. They enjoyed doing the project and this showed in the efforts they put forth to complete the project and present it to the class.

Thank you for attending the Parent-Teacher conferences. It was good to visit with you, especially since I was unable to be here for Open House at the beginning of the year. It was good to make that connection. You are your child’s first teacher, and I look forward to working with you in your child’s educational process. We are so blessed to have the opportunity to provide a Christian education at St. Paul’s Lutheran School.

Chapel offerings for October and November will be going to the “Wittenburg Project.” This is a restoration project in Germany in honor of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. The purpose of the project is to have a base for Gospel outreach in Wittenberg.

We will not have Share Time this week. First graders may bring an item for Share Time on Friday, December 1.

Please note that we will have an ALL SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PROGRAM this year. It will be on December 19 at 6:00 p.m. The first and second graders will have a recitation with assigned parts. I am sending those parts home this week, so your child can start the memorization process.

You are always welcome to join us at St. Paul’s for worship, especially if you do not have a church home. There will be a Thanksgiving Eve service at 6:30 p.m. on November 21. What a wonderful way to kick-off Thanksgiving!

Regular worship services are at 5:30 pm on Saturdays in the gym (a more contemporary service) and at 9:00 am in the sanctuary on Sunday mornings. We will continue our special unit this week on Martin Luther. We will learn how God used Martin Luther to reform the church and help us to remember that “It’s STILL all about JESUS!”

Tomorrow is a special day as we commemorate the beginning of the Reformation. We remember “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9.

Be sure to read the note about the importance of reading at home. I did not send home a reading log this week, but it is STILL important for your child to read at home each night.

Last week the fire department visited St. Paul’s Lutheran School. They conducted a fire drill, and our class went through the “Fire Safe House.” This is an excellent learning experience, and the firefighters always do a wonderful job of teaching the first and second graders about fire safety.

The end of the first trimester will be November 10. Parent-Teacher Conferences will be November 13 and 14. An email was sent out last week to invite you to sign up for a conference time. Please be sure to sign up for a time by this Friday. I would like to meet with each of you to discuss your child’s progress, so please let me know ASAP if you did not receive the email.

Chapel offerings for October and November will be going to the “Wittenburg Project.” This is a restoration project in Germany in honor of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. The purpose of the project is to have a base for Gospel outreach in Wittenberg.

First graders may bring an item for Share Time on Friday. Please encourage your child to bring an item of interest that is NOT a toy. Share Time is an opportunity for your child to gain confidence in speaking in front of a group. It would be helpful to have your child rehearse at home what he/she will tell the class about the Share Time item.

October 23-27 was “Make a Difference” week. You may still bring donations of non-perishable food items to donate to the Food Bank of Pettis County. This is a tangible way that we can share the love of Jesus.
